Appeals to the purchaser
Chikamori sells gift items and makes paper boxes in a small town in Konan City, Kochi Prefecture.
We are also a gift shop and have been manufacturing paper boxes for gift items for approximately 70 years. Making paper boxes has always been manual work. We continue to make glued paper boxes as well as rarely seen angle-stapled and flat-stapled paper boxes in the traditional way.

Angle-stapled boxes
The four corners of the boxes are connected with staples inserted at 90-degree angles. This is the traditional way of making boxes. It requires craftsmen using a special technique to close the corners with staples. Our handmade paper boxes have become rare because of the recent mechanization of paper box making, and there are only a few places that produce them by hand. The boxes are not particularly strong because of their structure. However, they are very popular because of the natural texture of paperboard and special design of the angled staples.
Flat-stapled boxes
The four corners of the boxes are stapled at different locations than those of the angle-stapled boxes. They are also stronger than the angle-stapled boxes. No decorative paper is used, and the boxes feature the natural texture of paperboard and simple design of the corner staples.
Glued paper boxes
These are also called decorative boxes. Specially designed decorative paper is attached to the cardboard boxes with hide glue, giving it sufficient strength. Each box is carefully made by hand.
